Flitdesk closes 1M€ seed round to make running a flexible workplace simpler 

Flexible workspaces have become the new normal over the past ten years with the growth of remote work, coworking, hot desking. Companies are trying to design offices adapted to the needs of a flexible workforce. But flexible workspaces are much harder to manage than conventional offices and without the right tools they can harm employee productivity, and engagement. Flitdesk was launched a little over a year ago to provide an all-in-one solution to workplace managers in their quest for more flexible workspaces.  



10 February 2020 | Paris — Flitdesk closed a 1M€ seed funding round to launch its flexible workspace management platform out of beta. The company is already working with high-end coworking brands in Paris, such as The Bureau, and Newtown Square (Groupe La Française) and convinced business angels (including French Entrepreneur Xavier Niel via his fund Kima Ventures) to support their ambitious plan to make workplaces simpler and more productive.


Flitdesk was founded by Julian Dufoulon (CEO) and Youenn Laumelais (CPO) who realized that the thinking around smart buildings should be focused on the needs of end-users and not about the building infrastructure. After 1 year in R&D Flitdesk was able to build a MVP  (minimum viable product) teste and approved by their first clients. With the support of their new investors they intend to support current growth and reach at least 50 clients by the end of 2020. 

Flitdesk brings solutions to a problem shared by most companies regardless of their size. New ways of working require more flexible workspaces, which are infinitely more complex to run than conventional offices. A typical design brief for a modern workplace includes: 

  • Highly mobile and nomadic work habits

  • The use of multiple shared group work settings

  • Diverse task-based spaces

  • Variable periods of working 

  • Variable occupancy patterns (sometimes very high) 

  • Share office settings combined with teleworking and home working

Unfortunately the toolkit that’s available to workplace managers has not evolved much (spreadsheets, calendars, post-its) for the last 20 years. That’s where Flitdesk comes in. 

“Designers come up with creative solutions to meet the flexibility challenge faced by occupants, whether it’s a company or a coworking. The solutions brought to the table by technology companies can’t be limited to mounting tablets in front of meeting rooms and geolocating people in the office. We wanted to come up with better, lighter, cheaper, more effective and above all more useful solutions for employees and workplace managers.” Julian Dufoulon, Flitdesk co-founder and CEO. 

The market opportunity was confirmed by a 2019 study from Jones Lang Lassalle, where 64% of respondents confirmed they were looking for solutions to help them manage workplace flexibility, while 14% only had already found or adopted a solution. 

Flitdesk allows office and coworking managers to run the whole office from one simple admin dashboard. They are able to manage desks and meeting rooms, booking rules and policies (confirmation, cancellation, payment, etc.). They are able to manage all employees and member requests in a full-blown help desk. They are able to offer a simpler and more attractive experience to visitors. Flitdesk already offers deep integrations with workplace technologies such as access control, print management and more. The seed round will allow Flitdesk to fuel its R&D effort and sustain current growth.
